by The Restless Minds (Jaime Flor)
This is my first professional quality music video, created, and directed by my associate, colleague, and friend, Mareesa Stertz from the Indie film company “The Seeing Machine.” Mareesa is also the former keyboard player for the Tropical Goth band “Black Flamingo,” from our neighboring city of angels, Los Angeles. As for how I met Mareesa, we had a common friend on Facebook, author Stuart Schuffman. You might be familiar with Stuart’s book “Broke-ass Stuart.” Stuart went to University City High School with the guitarist from my first professional bandJohn Rolondo. Stuart was a regular guest at my bands rehearsal studio parties in the late 1990’s.
Back to my music video, it was filmed in mid-January 2012 in, Ventura, 45 minutes away from Hollywood, where some of my friends continue to reside. The first scene was filmed on one of Ventura’s many random hillsides. This one was chose, because of the big oak tree, at the top of the hill. The rest of the film was recorded in one of the campus studios on the “Brooks Institute for Photography,” campus.
The film’s concept was based off the repetitiveness of life in today’s society. The main character, which was originally going to be me, was played by actor Joey Halter. The woman in our dream, who’s outfit reminds me of Princess Leah from Star Wars, was played by actress Nouel Riel. I was downgraded to a future version of the main character, observing my past self. Ironically, the only thing familiar between Halter, and I, is our makeup.
Anyways, it was great experience for me, and if I’m lucky, one day I’ll get to be the main actor that gets kissed at the end of the video. Actually, now that I think about it, I was the one that decided, that the video would be better, if someone with more acting experience took the main role. I think it was the right choice. However, if I ever get a chance to make another music video, I hope to have a band to share the experience with.
For those of you that have a YouTube account, if you enjoyed the video, please subscribe to my channel, and Like the video. There will be more to come in the future. If you’d like buy the song, I’m working on a way to sell my music online. If you live in San Diego, I can send you a burned copy of my demo for $6.00. I could also mail it to you. It just depends on if I was able to design a legit CD case for it. There are 10 songs total, and I will keep everybody informed via my website. @ http://www.JaimeFlor.com
